About the Item

These armchairs are variations of the armchair designed by Dominique in 1947 for the “Salon des Paysages”, the fumoir, or smoking room, of the private apartment of the French president Vincent Auriol at Palais de l’Elysées, the French president’s residence in Paris. Exhibited: The variation designed for the Palais de l’Elysées, with a slightly different backrest head, in black lacquered wood and upholstered in Beauvais tapestry, is kept at the Mobilier National, inventory number GMT-15972-001.
