Set of 2 Erik Jørgensen EJ900 Cobra Armchairs by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen

About the Item

Trained as a saddler and upholsterer, Erik Jørgensen established his workshop in 1954 which grew out to become an international furniture brand and a family firm. In the 1980s he teamed up with designer duo Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen — today two of Scandinavia’s most renowned and successful contemporary furniture designers. First Launched in 1983, the EJ 900 Cobra chair is the counterpart of their iconic Pipeline sofa. The chair refers to early modernist forms of the Bauhaus period (Perriand), as well as mid-century Scandinavian designs (Nanna Ditzel), adding bold pop era or Memphis concepts and unexpected fabrics. Hello 1980s! This set of Cobra Chairs is in a lovely condition, recently upholstered with a nice pink hopsack. A rarely seen set and a true icon of Post-Modern design.

Mikado Dining Chairs Design Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen by Fredericia
By Johannes Foersom, Fredericia, Peter Hiort-Lorenzen
Located in Munich, Bavaria
Dining chairs in beech designed Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen and produced Fredericia Stolefabrik. This set of four Mikado dining chairs in solid beech comes with the removable original vegetal soft pad leather cushions, with the other side in flax which can be used as well. Usually there was armrests on the chair but the first owner has removed them. You can see on the edge the details of it. The cushion shows an aged patina. The chairs were produced by Fredericia. The first edition was launched in 1996 by Fredericia. Later versions of this chair were produced with Multiplex wood seating by FDB Mobler. The Mikado chair is part of the design collection of the Design Museum Danmark. The chairs are based on a construction principle that uses the seat as the element that joins everything together. Each has eight spindles for a comfortable seating. Mikado has the 18th century English Windsor chairs...
