About the Item

Latonda chair designed by Mario Botta for Alias, Italy 1987 The bent steel tube traces a fluid curve that gracefully moves through space. The two inclined circles, broken at the center, harmoniously embrace the leather seat, creating a refined balance between solidity and lightness. The entire structure rests on two tubular elements that mark the conclusion of a single continuous line. Its essentiality is not an absence but the result of a sophisticated subtraction, where every superfluous detail disappears to make way for a pure geometric expression in motion. Born in 1943 in Mendrisio, Switzerland, acclaimed architect and designer Mario Botta has gained international recognition for his bold postmodern creations, seamlessly merging classical forms with contemporary vision.
