About the Item

Late 20th C. a pair of cherrywood dining chairs with high backs, curved arms and woven rush seats. The top of the chairs have a distinctive silhouette that resembles the splat back typical of Queen Anne furniture. The rush woven seat gives the chairs a rustic, handcrafted quality, often found in American Country or Shaker furniture. This adds a more relaxed, homespun touch to the otherwise formal lines of the chair. The legs and cross braces have turned wood detailing. The use of dark-stained wood with a polished finish, combined with traditional joinery and natural materials, gives the chairs a timeless quality. These chairs embody the kind of high-quality, traditionally inspired furniture for which Lillian August is known. Dimensions: 43.5"h x 23.5"w x 19"d 18.75" seat height 15.75" seat depth 22" seat width 26" arm height Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. No issues observed. Show well. Ready to place.
