About the Item

Luisa and Ico Parisi are an Italian duo of interior and furniture designers, founders of La Ruota, a design studio. The Parisi’s were key to the development of Italian mid-century design. Their aesthetic with graceful, curved lines and minimal ornamentation was celebrated for its modernity. Designed by Cassina in 1955, these lounge chairs are recognizable by their intricate steel frames dipped in white, supporting gray upholstery. This pair captures the refined dynamism of Italian design in the postwar period. The composition is striking for its interplay of volumes and lines: the softly contoured backrests and seat cushions are upholstered in a textured, neutral fabric that brings both warmth and tactility. These plush, sculptural forms rest on an exposed black metal base, angular and architectural in its construction, revealing the duo's interest in both comfort and structural experimentation. The legs, splayed slightly for stability, are finished with white cylindrical feet that lend a touch of contrast and modern flair. From the side, the chairs show a graceful forward tilt, emphasizing their inviting posture and ergonomic intention. With their low profile and rhythmic asymmetry, these lounge chairs exemplify the Parisis' ability to merge elegance and innovation, balancing mid-century modern aesthetics with a timeless, avant-garde spirit.
