About the Item
A handsome pair of French 19th century Renaissance st. walnut and giltwood armchairs. Each chair is raised by elegant circular tapered turned legs with fine bun feet and connected by a straight stretcher with a mottled border. Each of the arms displays a lovely scrolled movement with a fine foliate band and striking richly carved rams heads. Flanking the upholstered back support are beautifully carved giltwood acanthus leaves leading up to a scrolled carved elements and impressive lion heads. All original gilt and patina throughout.
