Pair Of French 19th Century Empire St. Patinated Wood And Giltwood Armchairs

About the Item

A striking pair of French 19th century Empire st. Patinated wood and Giltwood armchairs. The pair of throne chairs are raised on impressive front quiver like circular tapered legs with elegant gilt palmettes and beaded designs all below the top burnished gilt ball. The bottom frieze is elegantly decorated on three sides by recessed square panels with gilt rosettes in the center. The circular patinated and gilt arms which are decorated in the same as the front legs lead to the slanted upholstered back. The back frame has gilt borders with central recessed panels decorated with foliate accents. Above is a richly carved palmette band below the top bull nose shaped edge with additional rosettes. At the back are two square tapered curved legs which lead to a decorative gilt band below the patinated wood frame.
