Victorian Wicker Parlor Set ‘His, Her and Child's’ Chairs, Settee and Rocker

About the Item

Part of a Senator's wife's wicker collection, this rare and beautiful complete wicker parlor set is of high quality with wood beads on the legs of the chairs and openwork curlicues cut into the backs of each chair. The arms are gracefully rolled with the apron on the chairs dipping down from the center to meet the legs. It includes His and Her chairs as well as a beautiful settee and rocking chair for Mother and a Child's chair. All pieces match and are in excellent condition based on their age. The child rocker has the metal label from Heywood Wakefield, which has been painted over. Measures: His armchair: 28" W x 26" D x 35" H Her chair: 27" W x 27" D x 34" H Love seat: 41" W x 27" D x 34" H Rocker: 27" W x 27" D x 33.5 H Child chair: 18" W x 16.5" D x 25" H.

    Repaired: One the years the pieces have been repainted and restored. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Some chips in paint are seen in the photo One chair back has a small chip in the weave. The rocker has a slight tear in the seat not effecting its structure. The seats have some paint accumulation which is normal for their age.

Part of a large collection of ornate Victorian wicker that was collected over the years by a Senator's wife. This rolled woven arm loveseat has wicker curlicues in the open areas under the side arm rests. Across the back are alternating lattice weaving and woven portions. The woven skirt comes from the top of the back leg to a mid-point on the front leg and returns to a shorter curved skirt in the center front. It is a delightful example of a late Victorian love seat.
