Introducing an iconic Model 666 side chair designed by the influential Jens Risom for Knoll. Build from a frame of solid Birch cut to sharp, archetypally Mid-Century Modern angles this instantly recognizable 666 chair harkens back to the beginning of Risom's design career first produced in 1941. Featuring new forest green webbing and a birch frame that is in 100% original vintage condition this 666 chair is ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an early model that is ready for a lifetime more of use. Jens Risom is widely considered to be a pioneer in introducing Danish modern furniture to the United States through early work with the Knoll company and to a greater extent through his own company, which thrived in the 1950s and ’60s. Born in Denmark in 1916, Risom emigrated to the U.S. where he teamed up with Hans Knoll to start a decades-long collaboration between the two icons. Risom served in World War II under Gen. George Patton and upon his return to the civilian world he founded his own company, Jens Risom Design, in 1946. The solid birch frame and legs are in 100% original, vintage condition with only minor signs of wear present such as nicks, surface scratches and minor discoloration (all of which can be seen in the detail photos provided). With that said there are no gouges, cracks or other damage present whatsoever. As purists we strive to keep our pieces in as original condition as possible. However we do offer a full in house carpentry shop and restoration services. If you'd like to have this chair fully-restored please message us prior to checkout to discuss options and pricing. The seat webbing has been replaced with new material for maximum comfort and longevity.
