This is an antique four panel coffer. An English, oak linen or mule chest, dating to the mid Georgian period, circa 1750. Of country house proportion with superb oak stocks and classic appeal Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Quality oak stocks present fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays Deep caramel hues grace the panelled exterior Arranged as a generous chest over a pair of lower drawers Broad two plank top opening upon long iron strap hinges Deep interior with the benefit of a covered candle box to the side Candle box cover doubling as a support for the outer lid Dressed with a diamond-shaped lock escutcheon — untested, key absent Each drawer hosts a pair of brass drop handles Standing upon four bracket feet beneath a tiered lower apron This is a fascinating antique four panel coffer, exuding country house appeal and of superb proportion.
