Monumental Antique Georgian Joined Oak Mule Dowry Chest Coffer Yorkshire 1720

About the Item

A very good, monumental antique oak mule chest, dowry coffer, Yorkshire, England circa 1720. This chest is of very unusual large size, the lift up lid enclosing a substantial storage area, the front of the coffer with four deeply carved panels and an engraved brass escutcheon/lock plate above and the carved initials "C M". The base of the coffer is fitted with two long drawers, each side of the coffer with two corresponding panels, the chest is raised on stile feet. The coffer is in very good condition for it's 300+ years and is ready to use for it's intended purpose, again it is an unusually large size and will be a treasured heirloom for tour home.
