About the Item

This is the Swedish Modern 1950s cabinet in elm. It comes decorated with a non-original botanical pattern in the style of Josef Frank. The pattern is composed of 65 different illustrations from the Swedish antique encyclopedia Bilder ur Nordens Flora, published by Wahlström & Widstrand, Stockholm. The irreparably damaged veneer on one of the sides was the reason for the artwork project – why throw away such a high-quality cabinet? The cabinet has two doors and two storage sections. The right section contains four drawers and an adjustable shelf, while the left section has two adjustable shelves. Each door has a working lock, and one key is included. This antique cabinet, originally featuring elm-veneered sides and doors, now showcases botanical illustrations painted between 1901 and 1905 by Carl Axel Magnus Lindman — professor of botany at the Museum of Natural History in Stockholm. The prints were produced in 1926 by Isaac Marcus Boktryckeriaktiebolag, Stockholm. An old cabinet with a new face.
