About the Item

Edward Wormley for Dunbar, c.1950s, USA. The two-tone credenza features five birch drawers at the center of the piece and a mahogany top and sides with two sliding textured doors. The doors can slide towards the center the piece to hide the drawers. Behind each door are two adjustable shelves. Edward Wormley was a longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company and was one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Wormley guided Dunbar to devote their total production focus to modern furniture. His designs were included in the MoMA "Good Design" exhibitions of the 1950s besides Harry Bertoia, George Nelson, Charles & Ray Eames, among others. Dimensions 49" width x 20" depth x 31" height. Condition Excellent restored condition; professionally refinished.
