About the Item

This elegant Swedish oak secretary shows off with a distinctive carved top bonnet or crown and round finials. Also known as a bureau, this secretary would have been a "signature statement piece" in a well to do country manor or large Swedish farmhouse. The newer, layered antique white and gray painted finish is professionally applied and has been lightly distressed, to compliment the age and style of this timeless secretary. The interior cubbies and petite drawers are a traditional element in a classic Swedish bureau such as this, along with the upper cupboard section resting upon the lower desk with 3 large, functioning drawers and an additional upper narrow drawer. Two keys are included; upper cabinet locks stiffly while the desk lock no longer functions. This secretary has been restored, drawers function, and it is ready for use. All cracks, dings, scratches, separation of wood (see back, repaired in drawer bottoms) is commensurate with age and does not detract from the aged beauty of this oak bureau. Open Depth: 34" d Floor to Desk Height: 29.5"h Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed.
