Place of Origin: South American
Untitled Triptych, Hand Embroidery on paper. From the series Partituras
By Ana Seggiaro
Located in Miami Beach, FL
Seggiaro is part of the textile field in an unconventional way, from a non-technical but expressive approach. In exchange, he obtains freedom of action from the needle that allows him to tie, knot, leave half-sewn stitches, and generate volume through the thread. In this way, she makes use of non-traditional uses of embroidery that respond to a more plastic than textile thought. Seggiaro's reinterprets european artistic traditions, infusing them with her own embroidered mark, drawing inspiration from classic prints by masters such as Albrecht Dürer, Giovanni Battista Piranesi and Bernhard Albinus. Her creative process is both meticulous and layered: she begins by researching historical images, which she then digitally reconfigures into intricate collages that form the basis of each piece. The final compositions are printed onto artistic canvases, where they are enriched with delicate hand embroidery and, more recently, vibrant paintings. This interplay of traditional and contemporary techniques reflects her dynamic artistic evolution: from a pictorial base to a greater use of diverse materials and media, allowing her to create visually appealing and deeply evocative works, focusing on themes such as authorial resignification, the body as cartography, intimacy and imagined landscapes. Framed Pre-Columbian Woven Textile from Chimu Chancay Culture
Located in Atlanta, GA
An antique pre-Columbia textile panel from Chimu or Chancay culture in central and Northern coast of nowadays Peru. Chancay culture thrived in the late Intermediate period/ late Horizon circa AD. 1000-1470 until it was incorporated by Chimu Culture on the further northern coast. The panel appears to be an intact shawl or head scarf, indicated by the overall integrity with the finished edges. It is a gauze-like linen/cotton open-square woven panel with supplemental embroidered horizontal bands that alternate between hooked diamond motifs and silhouettes of perched seabirds, one of the most favored animal forms in Chancay art. The color is quite vibrant with red contrasted by two shades of yellow on a darker brown background. The scarf such as this is thought to be associated with ceremonies and magic realm of death and burial practice. The textile is displayed on a dark line background under a newly made acrylic shadow box. Reference: For reading on the bird motifs in Chancay textile art, see page 141-183 of the book "Ancient...

She then formalized her studies in art direction and advertising in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That same year her illustrations accompanied Pilar Gualco`s literary work in Buenos Aires at Fauna Estudio Taller. In 2017, she fell in love with embroidery. Slowly, she connected techniques and in the process dressed up a lot of weird humans. She showed her work in 2019 at Noches San Felipe and Open San Felipe with SGR and Bandy Bandy galleries in Bogotá, Colombia. Framed Embossed Leather Pre-Columbian Folk Art by Angel Pazmino, Ecuador, 1960
By Angel Pazmino
Located in Deland, FL
Introducing an extraordinary embossed leather art by the incomparable furniture designer and artisan Angel Pazmino. Cut from a set of sling chairs by Pazmino this truly one of a kind artwork is the epitome of 'custom' and 'hand-made'. The frame has been hand-milled from a solid slab of sustainably sourced American black walnut by our carpenters perfectly offsetting the character-rich patina of the embossed leather within depicting, among other Incan symbols, Supay - the Incan god of death and guide to the afterlife. Angel Pazmino is an Ecuadorian furniture maker who has, in recent years, earned world-wide acclaim for his unlikely merging of pre-Columbian American and Mid-Century Modern design elements into his works. Born in 1926, Pazmino began his woodworking career in 1944 as a cabinet maker. Throughout the 1950's and 60's Pazmino travelled throughout the Americas where he exhibited his work and took inspiration from traditional Ameri-Indian artists and techniques. In the late 1960's he added his second authorial characteristic, incorporating graphic elements from the continent's native cultures reviving, as he put it, “the ancient and aristocratic art of leather embossing,” learning from such artisans as master saddler Ignacito Ortiz. With it's striking depictions of Incan mythology, intricate hand-tooled and embossed saddle-grade leather and a custom, hand-made frame cut from solid black walnut this truly one-of-a-kind art piece is sure to make a BOLD impression in any space it inhabits and is absolutely arresting from any angle. Ideal for designers and collectors alike searching for authentic folk-art from the Andes region this visually arresting piece can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Spanish Hacienda to Safari to Boho Chic and is the perfect addition to any collection. Just as Pazmino merged the design aesthetics of Scandinavian Modern and Spanish Hacienda so too we find this artwork merging the techniques, beliefs and aesthetics of both the Spanish and Native American design creating a uniquely original, honest outcome blending both the New and Old Worlds as no one else has ever done. Make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 25 in / 63.5 cm Depth: 1 in / 2.54 cm Height: 17 in / 43.18 cm This artfully-crafted leather artwork...

Acrylic and Crayon on Canvas by Bernardo Nieves
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Bernardo Nieves is a Venezuelan artist born on October 18th, 1961, in the quaint, small-town (at the time), city of Barquisimeto. A plastic self-taught artist who has sought instruction and knowledge with great effort, that began as a craft simple craft "hobby" which takes a big part in his life that today is grateful for. From his first steps in painting, passion for landscaping washes are printed on cardboard chimo-sepia, where he expressed his vision through cobbled streets, adobe houses, and mills. In this quest for artistic development, reconciles with oil, and monochrome images become hearty in colorful expressions by the nobility of the art. This new knowledge drives him to plot their future goals. At the end of this decade and early next, develops their technical experience in new materials and strengthens brushwork. In the 80s, a new inspiration emerges from the vegetation decorating fields, valleys, and forests. And these reasons are the ones he will project to a higher level by giving importance to his image as an artist. Towards the end of the century decade, he fully converts in "artist" by trade, then, what began as a pleasure is now his passion in one hundred percent of his time. Individual and group exhibits were already part of their commitments and his time was most devoted to art; during the last five years of the '90s was when his career took a new impulse and his image reached more interesting levels. It is here, while changes in his artistic life are in full swing, the artist pierced the thin line that divides the creative artist and the creator-artist and in the effort to show his graphics concepts, he developed mural projects which found acceptance among his colleagues and Barquisimeto people. So many events together were not enough to Bernardo, who while all these facts, internally was engendering a new graphic idea that definitely will take him to what he is now: the artist that succeeded. From the year 2000 an overturn of his motivations are mixed with trends and those landscapes: the Avila, forests, and valleys, suddenly a "coup" of artistic movement when the first Equus figure came out. These floating horses, first in earthy ochre, of long and slender limbs, have occupied the whole life of the artist. From stained canvases...
