About the Item
Alexis Louis Roche (1891-1961, Switzerland) Bauhaus abstract oil on notebook paper. Clearly influenced by the Kandinsky's use of organic shape and form juxtaposed with the angle and the straight line. The date of the work on the reverse indicates that it falls within the time period of The Bauhaus in Germany from approximately 1921-1933. Oil paint on notebook paper (page 39, upper right corner). Signed lower left, A.L. Roche and dated 1928 on the reverse. Unframed.
Paint bleed onto the reverse portion of the paper sheet. Some light fading and a shadow from paper oxidation and age. Minor nicks to the top and right margin (see photos), but no major losses. Adhesive residue on reverse.
The sheet measures approximately 6.5" wide x 8" high.
