1950s Geometric Abstract Painting

About the Item

A scintillating period Abstract Expressionist oil painting on masonite. A finely rendered piece that reveals a highly worked surface of the medium with brush stroke and palette knife. Circa 1950-60. Unsigned. This piece was purchased from the Jim Adair estate from New Paltz, New York. Adair was an art student graduate from Michigan State and worked as a New York advertising executive in the Madmen world of the 1950-70s. He is the founder of Adair Winery, New Paltz, New York. There were many good pieces in the Adair collection. Good overall condition with small nail holes in the margin and some losses around the corner of the painting. Very small paint surface paint losses. Unframed. Approximately 16" wide x 20" high.
