The oil painting has been taken from an 17h century Aubusson Tapestry and shows a female (Hero) playing a pipe with and a male (Leander) in the stormy sea from the sea. The painting is of an series of six famous Mortlake tapestries, that illustrate the ancient Greek myth of tragic love. The priestess Hero and Leander. Leander swam the dangerous currents of Hellespont between Europe and Asia in order to see his love, but was drowned one stormy night. The first set of these tapestries was made for James 1st in 1625. This stunning French wall mural features a captivating Pastoral scene in bold coloured hues. Measuring large in size, this canvas mural is the perfect addition to any home décor.
