The antique painting is signed at lower right Marie Calvés French genre painter of landscape and animal paintings.
Marie didiére Calvés (1883-1957) was born in Paris and was a student of and daughter of Léon Georges Calvès.
He exhibited regularly at the Salon Des Artistes Français until 1940. He paints mostly animals.
Some of his paintings are on display in the Gres Museum.
It also carries an authentic carved and lacquered wooden frame coeval with the 20th-century painting.
The Painting and the frame are carefully and professionally restored.
