Framed 18th Century Study for Aubusson Tapestry on Canvas

About the Item

This cartoon is a pattern for a Louis XVI settee. The notation and measurements are handwritten on the cutout of the settee pattern. The study offers a motif and color guide for the tapestry that is to be woven. The natural wools are dyed to match the cartoon's palette. On its own, it is a rich, jewelled toned painting. The canvas is museum mounted on a Brunschwig & Fils check fabric and is in a custom acrylic frame.
