Directoire Period Engraving "Les Francais en Garnison" in Gilded Frame

About the Item

This engraving depicts French aristocrats and soldiers during Napoleon I reign. It is hand colored. The print is after a painting by Aubry and the engraver of the Master Plate is Charon, a noted engraver of the period. The lithograph is in a period gilded frame with flat panel and bead detail. There are some stains on the print and lower left of the mat. Overall 22.5 X 18.5 Plate size: 16 X 12
