A large and rare Louis XV period frame Beauvais tapestry panel French, circa 1760 Frame: Height 107cm, width 92cm, depth 8cm Panel: Height 82cm, width 67cm This superb piece is an exceptional Louis XV period tapestry panel, by the Manufacture de Beauvais, dating to c.1760. Set within its original giltwood frame, the beautifully hand woven surface features a highly decorative floral design, with a bouquet tied by blue ribbon, extending into all four corners of the panel. Beauvais was a highly important and prestigious tapestry manufactory, enjoying a rich period of production and success during the mid to late eighteenth century when this piece was made, which is noteworthy for its strong condition, exceptional aesthetic qualities, and its original giltwood frame.
