About the Item

This Amazinf and beautiful work by René His transports you to the Villefranche coast, an idyllic corner of southern France, where nature is displayed in all its splendor. The painting presents an impressive panoramic view from a height, probably a sand cliff, which opens towards the vast immensity of the sea on the left, while on the right the beach extends towards a landscape of green and ochre-coloured undergrowth, where the transition between sand and vegetation reveals the stillness of a place far from human intervention. The perspective is sublime: the cliff that dominates the scene in the foreground rises in the right corner, marking the lower level of the composition. From there, the gaze moves away gently, losing detail in the distance and giving way to a series of boats that are faintly drawn on the sea, while the horizon marks the subtle line between water and land. This encounter between both natural elements is treated with a delicacy that only a master like René His could achieve, revealing his special ability to capture the interaction of light on the surfaces of the water and the surrounding landscape. The signature “René-His 1903” in the lower left corner attests to the authenticity of this piece, which, like many of his works, displays the technical perfection that characterizes the work of this French painter. His detailed style, notable for a meticulous representation of nature, turns each element into a work of art in itself. René His, born in 1877 in Colombes, is known for his dedication to accurately depicting natural landscapes, especially those related to water, such as rivers and coasts. The influence of Henri Biva, his teacher and mentor, is clearly seen in his treatment of light, an aspect that defines this painting and that earned him recognition both in France and the United Kingdom. This work is a reflection of the serenity and depth of the work of René His, whose talent for observing nature and his mastery of technique have established him as one of the most outstanding landscape painters of his time. The painting is not only a testament to his artistic prowess, but also a portal into a natural world where calm and beauty are found in every stroke. French Painting "Dahlias and Camellias" Paul Bazé, midcentury France
By Paul Robert Brock
Located in Valladolid, ES
Impressive and very beautiful oil on panel made by Paul Robert Bazé, an artist of French origin. It represents a still life with a bouquet of flowers in the foreground on a dark background. It mainly shows dahlias and camellias, which give the work its name. The traditional still life genre shows its evolution here. It presents the characteristic style of the genre to which it corresponds, realistic and meticulous, especially noticeable in the way it works with the different qualities of the flowers and leaves. The dark background is also inherited from the still life genre, with a marked dark interest reflected in the dark backgrounds. Signed in the lower left corner. Paul Robert Bazé (1901-1985) was born in Paris, although he soon moved to Bayonne and then to Bordeaux, where he was a student of Paul Quinsac...
