Harry Hutchinson Shaw (1897-1989) - "Untitled" - American Impressionist fine art oil painting on canvas - featuring a majestic Egret in a marshy landscape (likely painted in Louisiana) - painted on unstretched canvas - contained in a vintage matte - signed lower right - United States - circa 1950's. Excellent pre-owned / vintage condition - no loss - no damage - no restoration - unframed - minimal signs of age and use. Painting Size / Dimensions (Sight) - Small - 7 1/2" (19 cm.) Wide x 9 1/4" (23.5 cm.) High. Canvas Size / Dimensions - 8" (20.3 cm.) Wide x 12" (30.5 cm.) High. Matte Size / Dimensions - Medium - 11" (28 cm.) Wide x 14" (35.5 cm.) High Harry Hutchinson Shaw was an important American painter, printmaker and art educator. Born in Philadelphia, he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts private art school, the Cleveland School of the Arts and Ohio University where he earned his Master's Degree. He was an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Louisiana after establishing the art department at Ball State University in Indiana. He also taught at Miami University in Ohio. Shaw eventually settled in Florida with his wife (the sculptor Margo Allen) - they went on to exhibit in Paris and Mexico City in the 1960's. His works are included in private and public art collections including the Akron Art Museum, the Canton Museum of Art in Ohio and the Library of Congress in Washington.
