About the Item
Gorgeous in conception and execution, this vivid and beautiful watercolor rendering, original to the 1930s, depicts an airy and open living space in 1930s modern style. The dramatic black stone fireplace surround is surmounted by a striking painting that depicts angelfish and coral in a palette of blue-green, pink and tangerine, suggesting that the artist was depicting an interior in Miami, or elsewhere on the Eastern shore. The two-toned seating is decked out in teal and pale lemon yellow, and the walls are a pale apricot. The leaded windows have stained glass inserts, and the corner bookcase is resplendent with books of every hue. The painting is signed William Lentz.
