About the Item
Charming small original oil on panel painting by contemporary painter Stephen Kasun. Named "Proud Egret," it is handpainted using only a palette knife in Stephen's signature style. Bold color and rich dimensionality of the surface give this small piece big personality.
Stephen Kasun (born 1975, Cincinnati, Ohio) is a full-time artist who lives and works in Savannah, Georgia. He paints exclusively with palette knives and thick impasto paint, creating impressionistic works based on Savannah and the Lowcountry. He received his art education from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati, and Memphis College of Art. Being academically trained, Kasun has evolved from traditional portraiture and still life to a more loose and free expression using bright colors and contemporary methods and subjects.

Cathrineholm was not a woman's name but was the factory based in Halden, Norway. It started as an iron works around 1827, before transitioning to the more modern enamelware in 1907.
