About the Item

A stunning pair of Italian 17th century oil on canvas paintings by Antonio Travi. Each painting displays an impressive array of rich colors, typical of Travi's works. One painting depicts an elder man leaning on a cane and a group of women teaching children, while others play. There are lovely buildings in the background with a hanging lantern in an arch and the warm glow of the sunset. The other painting is in a forest with a woman nursing a child in her tent, with elder men and women bathing children. Each painting is set in its original giltwood frame with a beautiful foliate border, a mottled design, an elegant outer Les Oves pattern and all original gilt throughout.

These wonderful paintings are set within rectangular Giltwood frames with an inner berried foliate band and mottled outer edges.
