Pair of French 19th Century Oil on Canvas Paintings

About the Item

A stunning pair of French 19th century oil on canvas paintings attributed to Jean-Baptiste Huet. Each painting is set within its original giltwood frame with a fine mottled design and richly carved scrolled foliate designs, seashells, and palmettes. The painting to the left depicts a beautiful shepherdess dressed in an exquisite garment sitting leaning against a rock with vibrantly colored blooming flowers at her side and a dog leaning upon her with sheep at her feet. A young man is passing the young lady a bird's nest with an egg and hatched birds while a young boy is trying to grab it. The painting to the right depicts a young man dressed in charming classical attire with a sheep sleeping on his lap with his dog and his hat at his side and sheep at his feet. A lovely young lady is dressed in an elegant garment with a basket of fruit on her arm and holding a staff.
