Questioning Ghoulish Cartoon Figure 1950s Watercolor
About the Item
Sinister little watercolor on paper that asks the question, " Have you had your beautiful thought today?" The figure has a very gray green complexion complete with black bangs and menacingly piercing burning red eyes. Signed illegibly by the lower right corner of the figure in red along with the caption in the bottom margin of the piece. Circa 1950-60. Most likely a cartoon rendering by a highly skilled, professional artist or illustrator.
The framing treatment consists of a simple gilded wood molding with the work under glass.
The work has not been viewed out of the frame. There is a minor visible crease throughout the center of the work. No visible tears or rips. Some minor cosmetic wear, fading and staining to the pape.r
