Trans World Airlines (TWA) was a major airline in the United States that operated from 1930 until it was acquired by American Airlines in 2001. It was formed as Transcontinental & Western Air to operate a route from New York City to Los Angeles, soon followed by multiple National routes. Howard Hughes acquired control of TWA in 1939, and after World War II led the expansion of the airline to serve Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, making TWA a second unofficial flag carrier of the United States after Pan Am.
David Klein (1918 – 2005) was an American artist, best known for his influential work in advertising. Although he produced illustrations for Broadway theatrical productions, Hollywood films, the United States Army, and numerous corporate clients, Klein is best remembered for the iconic travel images he created for Howard Hughes and Trans World Airlines (TWA). Between approximately 1955–1965, Klein designed numerous award-winning travel advertisement posters, the bulk for TWA, many of which are now considered emblematic of the 1960s Jet Age. Antonio Fernández Reboiro is a Cuban Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1935. He studied medicine and architecture at the University of Havana. In 1963 he began to work at the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry) until 1982 designing posters.
Most of the highly collectible Cuban posters are from mid-1960s through early 1980s, the period called “el periodo de oro de la grafica cubana” (golden period of Cuban graphics). These silkscreens were develop with new graphic techniques, due in part that materials were not readily available and lack of formal graphic schools. The Cuban posters became known for the use of bold innovate images which were mostly for proganda. Among the most important were the movie posters of the ICAIC which would promote the national movie industry as well as foreign films.

Maison Monnet was founded in 1838. In 1897, Jean-Gabriel Monnet chose the emblem of the salamander to decorate his bottles. The salamander is a mythical animal with the power to triumph over flames.
Leonetto Cappiello is an Italian painter, illustrator, caricaturist and poster artist, naturalized French in 1930. His poster career began in 1900 and continued until the 1930s. He remained loyal to the Vercasson printing press until the early 1920s , continues with “Les Imprimeries Réunies” and begins, at the same period, to work regularly for the publisher Devambez, with whom he signs, from 1921 to 1936, an exclusive contract.
