About the Item

Admired in his day as one of the great graphic artists of America, Andrew Szoeke put his mastery of form and silhouette to work in furniture, type design, graphic design and fine arts. Although best known for his wood marquetry furniture, Szoeke also created Art Deco masterpieces using paper, wool felt and other materials. Here, he depicts "Spring" full of flying birds and flowers underfoot, using shades of white, gray and black. This piece belonged to his family's estate until recently.
