Taizō-in Garden by Masao Ido. Traditional Japanese wood block print in great condition.
The Taizō-in Garden is part of a small Zen Buddhism temple located in north western Kyoto.
Signed and numbered 79/150 by the artist in pencil.

Measurements : W.53 x H.41 x D.2.5 cm

Masao Ido was born in November 1945, in the town of Beipiao, located in China. Rare 1985 color lithograph by Kumi Sugaï. This limited edition, 12/50, in excellent condition is titled 'Oni'. Oni can be read "Nami" which means wave but also Blue Devil. Oni translates in Japanese folklore as a type of demonic creature often of giant size, great strength, and fearful appearance. They are generally considered to be foreign in origin. Cruel and malicious, they can, nevertheless, be converted to Buddhism.
