About the Item

An art deco stations bracelet designed by J.B. Caldwell & Co. This is a superb and beautiful riviera stations-bracelet created in America during the art deco period, back in the 1925. The gorgeous bracelet has been carefully crafted with impeccable details by the company of J.B. Caldwell in solid .900/.999 platinum and .100/.999 iridium with high polished finish. The sides of the bracelet are decorated with geometric engraved patterns, and embellished with a gorgeous selection of thirty-eight earth mined natural gemstones, such; white colorless diamonds and vivid blue sapphires, all finished with millegrain patterns. The riviera bracelet is fitted with a concealed push boxed security lock, a hinged rectangular safety slash and a security chain with a spring lock. Sapphires: Mounted in channel settings with 18 calibrated French faceted scissors cut (5 x 3 x 2.5 mm) of natural blue sapphires, with a total estimate weight of about 6.78 carats. Diamonds: Mounted in millegrain flush settings with 20 calibrated round brilliant-cut diamonds with a total estimate weight of about 1.80 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity. Birthstone: Sapphire for the month of September. Millegrain This term is for a jewelry technique which refers to the textural effect of a close-set line of metal beads that are typically used as a border on the edges or bezels of jewelry. Weight: 17.70 grams, (11.35 Dwt). Size: Length of 6.75 inches (17.1 Cm). Measurements: The width is 4 mm (0.16 Inch). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark for J. B. Caldwell, the mark for the assay of the platinum, the five-digits serial numbers and signed, "J.B.C&CO. K6414". J.E. Caldwell & Co. The company of J.E. Caldwell & Co. was a landmark jeweler in Philadelphia, highly respected for its exquisite jewelry and silverware. But, like many jewelers, it was in creating jewels during the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods that this jeweler would make its lasting mark. Upon his death in 1881, Caldwell's son, James Albert, took over the reins. In turn, his son, James Emmott, his grandfather's namesake, succeeded him. The firm changed hands many times. In 1924, J.E. Caldwell moved into the majestic space at 1339 Chestnut Street. The store itself was a work of art, boasting 17 French-cut crystal chandeliers suspended from 20-foot ceilings and an interior designed by architect Horace Trumbauer in the French Regency style. The elaborate setting dovetailed perfectly with the tastes of the jeweler's wealthy clientele. Philadelphia's socialites with a yen for European-style jewelry were the desired audience. Collateral: This J. B. Caldwell riviera bracelet is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Collateral: This J. B. Caldwell bracelet is accompanied by a certificate appraisal prepared by a certified GIA gemologist stating all the characteristics and the actual market replacement valuation.
