Early Victorian Cut Steel Pave Hair Comb
About the Item
Imagine this Early Victorian Cut Steel Hair in your hair, highlighting its natural beauty. The little bells move but do not jangle. Each cut steel bit was faceted by hand and polished like a rose diamond and will give back the same light. The back frame shows how every tiny steel bud is riveted in place. Miracle that all pave pieces of steel are secure after 200 years. In France, cut steel became widely popular back in the mid 18th century. It was so desirable that it supported the market in Birmingham and Woodstock England. The French and Swiss governments had sumptuary rules allowing on some to don diamonds or precious metals. Enhanced by these rules, cut steel was not against regulations for all people who could afford it and to purchase its wonder. Beautiful and romantic, this is an historic way to shine. 4 inches wide
