Antique Empire Hair Comb Head Ornaments Silver Ormulou Brass Two Colour Gilding
About the Item
This important French ornamental hair comb was hadcrafted in 1810 ca. The beautiful handcarved head ornament has been handcarved out of brass and then fire guilt to acchieve this extraordinary gilding the french call ormolou. We see a wide freeze of delicately carved flowers and leaves decreasing in size to the sides of the comb. To embellish the carving, a spirale crerated out of a never ending grooved wire has been soldered on top of it. The silver comb carries a French hallmark.
