About the Item
Fantastic late Georgian aluminum, pinchbeck and horn hair comb. This rare museum quality piece is beautifully engraved and in excellent condition. At its inception aluminum was more valuable than gold and was used in the making of jewelry. During the Napoleonic era it was highly prized. Betsy Patterson was enamored by aluminum jewelry and several of her pieces are on display at the Maryland Historical Society.
