Hans, The Hedgehog necklace designed by Boucheron. Beautiful chain necklace, created in Paris France by the jewelry house of Boucheron. The model of Hans, The Hedgehog was an original design by Solange Azagury, is very rare and very popular. The main piece was carefully crafted, with three-dimensional textured spiky patterns in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished finish. Very delicate and playful, Hans, the hedgehog represented in this chain necklace is both rounded and spiky. The eyes are embellished with rubies and the nose with a round spiky piece carved from black jade Rubies: The eyes are accented in bezel settings, with 2 round brilliant cut of natural Burmese red rubies of .02 carats. Weight: 13.30 grams, (8.53 Dwt). Size: The lenght of the chain is 16 Inches (40.64 Cm). Measurements: The animal is16 mm by 18.5 mm by 16.3 (0.63 x 0.73 x 0.64 Inches) Note: This model was produced in white, pink and yellow gold in large and small size. Solange Azagury-Partridge She is a British designer, famous for the use of silver, gold and precious gemstones to create covetable high jewelry. Her pieces are featured in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London as well as the Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. She designed many models for the French house of Boucheron and was the creative director of this Parisian jewelry Maison. Boucheron Frédéric Boucheron founded the Maison Boucheron in Paris in 1858. To this day, the Boucheron jewelry house is known for its intricate, free spirited style. Boucheron designs are always creative and display outstanding French craftsmanship and characterful stones. He quickly became well known for the exceptional quality of his precious stones. Around 1880, he was the first modern jeweler bold enough to engrave diamonds with flowers or arabesques, reviving an engraving technique that had been forgotten since ancient times. Always avant-garde and seeking modernity, in 1879 the jeweler devised the Question Mark necklace, which, for the first time ever, would be worn asymmetrically and would not have a clasp. Far from entrapping the jewel and those who wore it in some stranglehold, Boucheron liberated both the jewelry and the women, without resorting to ideology. He became the jeweler of free and independent women. In 1893, Frédéric Boucheron was the first of the great contemporary jewelers to open a boutique on place Vendôme. It was this move that gave meaning to the beginnings and to what followed. In this case, that of four generations of Boucheron, who, in the space of 160 years, built a style, a reputation, a know-how. As the oldest high-end jewelry boutique on the legendary Place Vendôme in Paris, dating to 1893, Boucheron stands for history, sensuality and avant-garde style. Since its founding in 1858 by Frédéric Boucheron with a boutique at the Palais Royal arcades, the maison has sought to create unforgettably unique pieces, push the boundaries of innovations in jewelry design and celebrate the opulence of gold. Many of its pieces are sculpted in gold by expert goldsmiths so that the material becomes a design element in its own right.

At its best, Edwardian jewelry was all about the exquisite diamond, platinum and pearl creations made by such famous names as Cartier and Boucheron. Later, Frédéric’s son Louis became especially interested in the Art Deco style as well as accessories like cigarette holders, bags and belts.

Boucheron is most famously known for its sources of inspiration: nature, animals and the earth. Its iconic Serpent Bohème collection, introduced in 1968, references the curves and scales of the animal with pear-shaped motifs and coiled accents adorned with diamonds and other precious stones like turquoise, lapis lazuli and malachite. (A 1960s-era Boucheron brooch featuring a lavish mound of artfully assembled round and baguette diamonds set in platinum is a dinner-party conversation starter from any angle.)

Frédéric Boucheron gave a serpent necklace to his wife as a symbol of love and protection. Leopards, hummingbirds, deer and hedgehogs are referenced in the Animaux de Collection, while high-end 3D technology in the Nature Triomphante meticulously re-creates flower petals, ivy branches and other organic forms.

Boucheron also pays homage to Paris, the city where it was founded. The octagonal shape of the Place Vendôme is translated into the geometric Liseré pieces, and the Clou de Paris motif — which is integral to the house's Quatre series — is inspired by the cobblestones on its streets. Since 1859, when Boucheron introduced a collection of pocket watches, the maison has also regularly created timepieces with the same elegance and refinement as its jewelry.

Despite having such a long legacy, Boucheron has always been ahead of its time. Its creative collections and bold jewelry remain coveted and cherished. In 2018, its flagship in the Place Vendôme reopened after a restoration under its current owner Kering.
