About the Item
This is an absolutely wonderful and rare antique Victorian - Edwardian Spider Web and Fly Pendant set with gorgeous Persian Turquoise and Pearls in beautiful antique gold. The elegant spider is set with an oval Persian Turquoise cabochon gem as the body and with a pearl as the head. The spider sits in the center of its wonderful golden web waiting for its prey. The sparkling fly is beautifully set throughout with delicate seed pearls. The design of the spider in its web and the flying fly is extraordinary. The insects are life size and fully three dimensional. The gold work is exquisite. The turquoise and pearls are stunning. The whimsical nature inspired design of the spider in its web with the fly is absolutely charming and delightful. It is very rare to find these early insect jewels and they are an absolute treasure. The spider and fly date to the Victorian - Edwardian period when insect inspired jewelry was sweeping the land. This whimsical pair dance delightfully around the neck and create a conversation piece to be passed on for generations. And insect inspired jewels are all the rage today.
