Beflowered I
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Be-Flowered" is deeply rooted in the African cultural heritage of a female child. In African culture, it is revered that a young woman should maintain her sexual purity until marriage, which brings immense joy and honor to her family when her husband finds her a virgin on their wedding night. The title "Be-Flowered" is derived from the concept of "Deflower," which signifies taking away a lady's innocence or dispossessing her of her virginity. However, in this painting series, my premise is centered on empowering women and celebrating their pride and inherent power. The first two pieces of the series feature ladies adorned in traditional South African bids worn during the Virgin festival. The gentle pink clouds symbolize feminine power and poise, evoking the strength and grace embodied by women. A community that empowers women tends to uphold higher moral standards than one that does not. My perspective veers away from the idea of gender equality, recognizing its limitations, and instead, I believe in gender equity, providing each gender with the opportunities they need to fulfill their potential. This series aims to leave my audience with a profound appreciation for empowerment and a celebration of cultural heritage. I hope viewers will reflect on the significance of embracing one's roots while acknowledging the strength and beauty that women contribute to society. Golden Triangle 2
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"The golden triangle" is the second pair from the series of Abfillage works referred to as "Renegades of a breaking nation". The eliminated afro hair, the symbol, and the expressions form the basis of the narrative of this art. The expression of serenity, tranquility, calmness, pride, unconscious of the external environment, and a state of deep thought defines the emotional status of the subject. The symbol of this pair is a triangular sign made with a golden color on the neck. It is made of three strokes, unlike the first pair made of 2 strokes, thereby showing a transition. It is basic and a symbol of balance like the other four paintings. The term "golden triangle" is a term used in mathematics for a triangle with an interior angle ratio of 1:2:2. But rather than constructing a mathematical golden triangle, the triangle was painted with golden pigment. The triangle is a symbol of geometric sturdiness and strength, a symbol of harmony, and unity of 3 parts. When we are focused on our truth, we are connected to life and have the experience of life coming to us. "Renegades of a breaking nation" is a series of 5 Abfillage artworks, created in 3 sections creating a form of transition using 3 symbols. A transition from a state of one nation to another. By creating a combination of expressive portraits and symbols in gold acrylic pigments which all signify balance. A transition to steadiness, equilibrium, and stability of a country. Shipping Procedure Ships from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. My Backbone and I
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The central theme of the artwork revolves around the concept of love, partnership, and the strength that comes from sharing life's journey with someone you truly cherish. The portrayal of a woman standing behind a man is symbolic and highlights the significance of being someone's backbone, providing much-needed support and encouragement in every situation. The title, "My Backbone and I," aptly captures the essence of the artwork. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of the couple, where each person complements and supports the other, forming an unbreakable bond. This piece reminds us that true love involves more than just being there during the good times; it means standing together, hand-in-hand, through life's challenges and triumphs. In the context of the artwork, the woman's presence behind the man represents her role as a steadfast pillar of strength, constantly supporting and empowering him. This representation challenges traditional gender norms, debunking the outdated notion that women should always stand behind men. Instead, it celebrates the idea that a successful partnership is built on mutual respect, equal footing, and shared responsibilities. The artist, Michael Adetula...

Have My Back
By Roseleen Labazacchy,
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Art has always been a medium to express emotions, tell stories, and convey messages. The artwork titled "Have My Back" is a stunning portrayal of the bond between two women, showcasing the essence of trust, support, and camaraderie. In today's world, the tale of success is often portrayed as a one-person journey, highlighting the individual's hard work, perseverance, and determination. However, this artwork brings to light the indispensable role that trusted mentors and colleagues play in one's journey toward success. The artwork features two women, standing shoulder to shoulder. The women's posture exudes confidence, determination, and a sense of unity. The use of vibrant colors adds a sense of vibrancy to the artwork, creating a visually appealing image. The title of the artwork, "Have My Back," reinforces the idea of trust and support. It speaks volumes about the bond between the two women, highlighting the fact that they are each other's trusted confidants, supporters, and cheerleaders. The artwork's message is particularly relevant in today's world, where women often find themselves struggling to break the glass ceiling and establish themselves in their respective fields. The artwork reminds us that success is not a solo journey, but a collective effort, with the support of trusted mentors and colleagues. The use of two women in the artwork is particularly significant, as women have historically faced significant challenges in their professional and personal lives. The artwork challenges the traditional narrative of women as competitors and highlights the importance of collaboration and support among women. In conclusion, the artwork titled "Have My Back" is a powerful representation of the role that trusted mentors and colleagues play in one's journey toward success. The artwork's message is particularly relevant in today's world, where women often face significant challenges in their professional and personal lives. It reminds us that behind every great tale of success, there is an indispensable circle of trusted mentors and colleagues, and that success is a collective effort. Emotan (Becoming Series)
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Emotan is an original painting by Barnabas Macauley. Emotan was created with Mixed Media (Charcoal, Acrylic, and Pencil on a primed 24W by 30H inches canvas. Emotan (real name Uwarraye) was a 15th-century market woman who plied her trade at the Oba Market in the ancient kingdom of Benin during the reign of Oba Uwaifiokun and Oba Ewuare the Great. She was known for her humanitarian work, love for children, and most importantly the key role she played during the period of Prince Ogun’s (Oba Ewuare I) succession travails following his time in exile. Although Emotan had no biological children of her own, Emotan loved and took care of many children in her foster home. Some parents would send their children to live with Emotan and learn some trades from her for a period of time. She also kept and trained orphans, many of which indeed became industrious and useful members of society. (Osaze Amadasun) In this Becoming series, I hope to revive our heritage as well as examine the intricacies of self-actualization, vis-a-vis drawing inspiration from the African history from the Benin and Esan perspective, contemporarily. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Macaulay Barnabas Osagie is a self-taught Artist and a graduate of the prestigious University of Benin, Nigeria, West Africa. Hailed from Benin heritage, which is known for its rich history, culture, and traditions. Growing up, He was fascinated by esthetics as a form of expression; this propelled his journey into the world of art. His passion for art began at the age of five, scribbling images on the ground using sticks—it evolved into drawings in primary and secondary schools. He was often selected among students to represent my secondary school in various art competitions. "Knowing that Art fuels my existence and helps me connect with the world better, in 2018, I decided to not only do art for love and relief, but to explore it professionally, and build a renowned career in the industry. One that reflects my views on societal issues and serves as an echo of hope. Determined to pay my dues, I had the privilege of working at Prince Saheed Adelakun's Olokun Art Studio in Abule-Egba, Lagos. It was there I met with other professionals. I created my first series titled "Odan Series"; which was expressed via hyperrealism. I created this series at the point when my life was in shambles; I was going through a rough phase; working on this series was my solace at the time. "Over the years, I have created brilliant artworks using charcoal and pencil on paper and have evolved using acrylic and charcoal on canvas as my primary media of visual articulation; these works take various forms and for various purposes, all a reflection of my creativity and depth. I am drawn to figurative African contemporary art and surrealism...

Aiyekooto (Insecure) - Contemporary African Portrait with Parrot Symbolism
Located in Ibadan, NG
“Aiyekooto (Insecure)” is a psychologically resonant painting that invites the viewer to reflect on the instability of truth in contemporary society. The Yoruba title Aiyekooto translates as “the world rejects truth” a fitting metaphor for an era defined by misinformation, curated identities, and performative honesty. At the center of the composition is a mysterious figure, partially obscured behind a sculptural, collar-like form, as though armored against scrutiny. A parrot, traditionally a truth-teller in Yoruba symbolism, perches on a branch nearby. But here, the bird becomes a subtle antagonist representing the overwhelming flood of conflicting information in our modern lives. The figure’s intense gaze, matched by surreal accessories like a lemon slice hat and hyper-stylized garment, suggests both elegance and caution. The mood is contemplative and charged a quiet but forceful critique of societal insecurity toward what is real, what is fabricated, and what we choose to believe. Orioye’s painterly skill, combined with his unique narrative approach, creates a work that is visually rich and conceptually deep. The balance of cultural symbolism, fashion surrealism, and psychological commentary makes this piece a timeless addition to any serious collection of contemporary African art. Why It’s Worth the Price: This is more than a portrait it’s a visual philosophy rendered in color, texture, and metaphor. Bukola Orioye...
