It harkens back to a time of “Peyton Place” when outdoor bank clocks or clocks atop a lamppost in the town square were commonplace instilling in us a feeling of communal security and good ol’ American values. In 1908, O.B. McClintock opened the O.B. McClintock Co. company to manufacture clocks which he sold to financial institutions all across the United States. According to one newspaper of the period, the Minneapolis Golden Jubilee, “these clocks not only advertise financial institutions in a dignified impressive manner but add to the refinement and culture of the community which they adorn.” The clock presented here is mounted within a dark brown vintage wooden case...
