French Late 19 Century Pink Porcelain Cartel Clock Attributed to Samson and Cie

About the Item

A finely decorated pink porcelain Cartel clock in the Louis XVI style; the predominantly pink case surmounted by a classical urn with goats heads and colored enamel swags. Below the white enamel dial with Roman numerals is a finely painted village scene, (the village under moonlight appears more Germanic than French). Meissen (or Samson) mark in under glaze blue on the back of the case. The eight day French movement with steel string suspension system rings the half hours and hours on a bell. French/German, late 19th century.
