About the Item

A traditional Austrian Biedermeier wall clock featuring a rectangular carved and gilded wood frame clock face; surmounted by a gilt bronze winged eagle. The decorations on the frame are of gilded metal with gilded carved wood around the dial. The ‘box’ frame has a hinged glass front door which allows access to the white enamel dial which is framed in gilt wood below with an aperture that allows visibility of the pendulum; the panel in which the dial is mounted is now painted a lapis blue; the clock has it’s original 30 hour silk string suspension movement with four quarter striking on coiled gongs.
