ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me.

Glean - Landscape, Sown Field w/ Two Rabbits, Graphite, Archival Paper
By John Hrehov
Located in Chicago, IL
The pristine, symmetrical and orderly landscape brings an unnatural stillness to John Hrehov's painting entitled "Glean". The rabbits are central to the sparse landscape, feasting on a freshly sown field. Straight lines and geometric patterns are used to compose a glossy concept of reality. The drawing is matted and framed in a simple black wooden frame measuring 26 x 30 inches.

Cabana A - Abstracted Urban Landscape of Tower at Milano Centrale Train Station
By Albert Vidal Moreno
Located in Chicago, IL
From its opening in 1931, Milano Centrale station was watched and worked by an army of more than 130 people in 7 different signal towers, 2 of which were of the bridge type across tracks. One of those towers is seen here in Albert Vidal's aptly titled work "Cabina A" - the closest of the switching towers to the main station. The loose, abstract brush strokes and warm color palette come together in this remarkable urban landscape painting. The bottom of the painting is marked with Vidal's signature - a series of numbers. The artist has carried the painting over the edges, thus allowing it to remain unframed. Alternate framing options can be discussed with the gallery.

Entrata Severa, Architectural Gardenscape Inspired by Ancient Roman Frescos
By Carol Pylant
Located in Chicago, IL
Inspired by the ancient trompe l'oeil roman frescos of the Villa di Livia, this gardenscapes by artist Carol Pylant focuses on the most deteriorated and weathered sections of the frescos. Amidst the flora, the artist inserts an architectural element, an ode to her travels and teaching in Italy. By combining the present with the past, the artist continues her exploration of our spiritual and concrete connections with the ancient world. This piece is framed measuring 25.5h x 25.5w inches.

True North - Orientation, Surreal Sky with Billboard, Rainbow and Fireworks
By Mark Bowers
Located in Chicago, IL
"True North - Orientation" is a worms-eye view of a jumbled sky bursting with both fireworks and a rainbow. The surreal quality of the imagery makes the viewer question reality. The ellipsed edges confirm the scene as an inner vision rather than a window on the world. The foreground billboards add another dimensional question to the landscape. The painting itself is painted on a handmade wooden panel with beautifully finished edges so no frame is needed.

TRUE NORTH PAINTINGS
Unconscious systemic biases may guide our actions or direct us---similar to the human construct of “True North”, which holds to coordinate systems. The Earth’s “Magnetic North” moves over time according to polar shifts; flux and correction is enabled by polarity. In these paintings (Privilege, Orientation, Belief, Identity, Equity), I use compositional elements referencing nautical com- passes to suggest that society must navigate not within systems, but naturally through positive relationships and change. I hope that my art represents our present day - but also imparts a dreamful glimpse of hope and faith within.
Explanation: A magnetic compass does not point toward the true North Pole of the Earth. Rather, it more closely points toward the North Magnetic Pole of the Earth. The North Magnetic Pole is currently located in northern Canada. It wanders in an elliptical path each day, and moves, on the average, more than forty meters northward each day. Evidence indicates that the North Magnetic Pole has wandered over much of the Earth's surface in the 4.5 billion years since the Earth formed.
Mark Bowers- Artist Statement
With the depiction of landscape playing such a central role in the history of North American art, it seemed to offer many of the critical possibilities I was looking for, and it felt more and more like something I have always known. Something I could easily apply, stage, and manipulate as a diary.
My work consists of small-scale highly detailed landscape paintings. They are inspired by the comfort, trepidation, and beauty found in the mundane Chicago Suburbs. I combine nature, decorative house wares...

A Pastoral California Landscape by Artist William Dorsey in a Hand-Carved Frame
Located in Chicago, IL
A 20th Century pastoral California coastal landscape by artist William Dorsey in a hand-carved Plein Air frame. Image size: 16" x 20". Framed size: 20 1/2" x 24 1/2".
Biography from Askart:
Primarily self-taught, William was best known as a California Landscape Painter. His paintings were reminiscent of the California Impressionists with rich atmospheric perspective and depth. It is important to note that William had difficulty seeing distance due to an eye condition. He would create the illusion of depth with skillful painting techniques and his sophisticated use of color.
William’s paintings were frequently available on the secondary market, in antique stores and auction houses, where they were often paired with early California painters such as Edgar Payne, William Wendt and Ray...

Light Pillar - Atmospheric Optical Phenomenon, Framed Oil Painitng
By Jeff Aeling
Located in Chicago, IL
Light pillars, a captivating atmospheric optical phenomenon, have been observed during extremely cold weather conditions. These mesmerizing columns of light appear to beam directly upwards from unshielded lights, creating a spectacle that captures the imagination. While they may seem otherworldly, light pillars are actually a result of plate-shaped ice crystals suspended in the air close to the ground. Here, artist Jeff Aeling uses loose brush strokes and gentle dabs of paint evoke impressionist painting while the palette sets a tranquil scene for this singular light pillar. The painting is framed in a heavy black wooden frame burnished to reveal red undertones measuring 20.5h x 16.5h x 1.75d inches.

Located in Chicago, IL
Pat garnered international attention in 2012 when a time-lapse video showing the painstaking production of his Manhattan skyline drawing, Empire State of Pen (2012), went viral. Since then, he has become something of a cityscape specialist, producing large-scale works such as Colossus (2015) and a range of new pieces created for clients such as MGM Park in Las Vegas and Gensler Architects. Pat has recently collaborated on a book with Björn Ulvaeus from ABBA, making drawings in response to stories about his life and has just worked with legendary Podcaster, Roman Mars (99% Invisible) on his first book, which was a New York Times Bestseller. Pat has also established a creative relationship with the Iconic British fashion designer, Sir Paul Smith, painting a mural for him in NYC and will be working with him on multiple London projects in 2024. Other past clients have included Apple, Tiffany's and Co, BMW, Ian Happ (Chicago Cubs), RIBA, IDEO, BMW, Pentagram, Washington Post, NIKE, Adidas and British Airways.

Also known as the Great Northern Railway disaster and Americas deadliest avalanche. After days of traveling west and passing through the 2.6 mile Cascade Tunnel, the GNR passenger train was trapped by snow at the tiny town of Wellington Washington in the Cascade Mountains. For 6 days the passengers survived on the train while railmen worked dauntlessly through continuous avalanches to clear the tracks ahead towards the next town. Fearful of the snow looming over them on the mountain above, the passengers were assured that they were safest where they were. The weather was severe and eventually an avalanche swept the GNR passenger train and a mail train off the tracks towards the river below, resulting in 96 deaths and 23 surviving injured.
