American late 20th century Impressionist landscape with figure, cottage, Sheep.
Located in Woodbury, CT
Well painted American Impressionist landscape signed Everet. The artist was a Chinese/American painter who lived and worked in Hackensack, New Jersey. I met the artist on many occasions in the late 1990s when I lived in New York and he was a very talented and pleasant chap. I asked him to paint different commissions for a client who wanted a certain color or subject and he was always able to amaze me with what he could produce. I have many paintings by him in my own collection. This is an oil on canvas. The piece was in a private collection towards the late 1990s and has been recently re-framed and revarnished. 19th century English marine seascape, with fishing boats in the North Sea
Located in Woodbury, CT
William Thornley was a painter of coastal scenes whose work is very similar to Hubert and Charles Thornley, who may have been members of the same family. He painted scenes of genre, architecture, and landscapes as well. A number of the landscapes were of Belgium, Holland, Italy, and Norway. However, it is for his seascapes that he is best remembered. Thornley’s works are beautifully detailed and show a masterful understanding of the moods of both weather and sea. They are often small in size and put together with fine detail and great artistic merit. Thornley’s fishing scenes are spirited and similar in style to those of “Jock” Wilson, and are often painted in pairs. Thornley’s works have always been popular when they appear on the art market. He was believed to have first exhibited marines at the Royal Academy in 1859 from an address in Paddington, London and also at the British Institution from 1861 until it closed in 1867. He continued to exhibit at the Royal Academy until 1898. Thornley also exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Salon of French Artists, receiving an honorable mention in 1881 and a third-place medal in 1888. William Thornley also went by the names Georges William and William...

French Abstract Contemporary , Mount Fuji
By Georges Noel
Located in Greenwich, CT
This Mount Fuji inspired work is what Noel called a Palimpseste. Meaning like an ancient piece of papyrus paper, man would use the paper over and over again, making his markings. There is sand on the canvas and he worked on this wet to incise in and build up the surface so there is beautiful texture. It is elegantly framed in a gold leaf float frame - 24 karat gold. Noel is an avant grade artist that worked alongside Cy Twombly in his early years at Fachetti Galleries in Paris - both artists used writing/.graffiti to form their compositions. Beginning in the late 1950s through 2000, Georges Noël produced both canvases and works on hand-made papers inspired by palimpsests, 6th century manuscript pages...

19th century Antique English Victorian Summer Harvest landscape, with figures.
By John Mundell
Located in Woodbury, CT
19th century English Antique Victorian Summertime Harvest landscape, with figures. John Mundell was a British painter of landscapes as well as river scenes and coastal views. It is suggested that Mundell was a pseudonym of John James Wilson. Mundell’s work was vigorous, bright, and attractive and compares favorably with the work of many of the better artists of his time. This is a very fine example of the artist's work. It is a rare composition for the artist as he mostly painted marines. This piece is framed in its original antique gold leaf frame
