It is stamped, signed, dated (1985) and numbered (12/50) by the artist. The original 1985 price of 300,000 yen can be seen written along the bottom edge of print. I have only seen this print offered once before making it relatively rare. A must have for collectors or admirers of Yoshitoshi Mori's work or lovers of Japanese prints in general. A wonderful Mingei woodblock print titled "Hirosaki Castle (sometimes just "Castle")" by famed Japanese master Showa era printmaker/ artist Shiko Munakata (棟方志功 ) who was widely considered to have been the Pablo Picasso of Japan. Munakata was associated with the Sosaku-hanga movement and the mingei (folk art) movement. His awards and recognitions include the "Prize of Excellence" at the Second International Print Exhibition in Lugano, Switzerland in 1952, the first prize at the São Paulo Bienal Exhibition in Brazil in 1955, and the Grand Prix at the Venice Biennale in 1956. In 1959 he spent a year touring and exhibiting in the United States. Upon his return, the Horinji Temple in Kyoto bestowed him with the honorary rank of “Hokkyo”. In 1962, he received the rank of “Hogan” from Nisseki Temple in Toyama prefecture. other awards include the Medal of Honor in 1963 and the Asahi Shimbun Culture Prize in 1965. In 1970, Munakata received the Order of Culture, the highest honor in the arts by the Japanese government.

BIOGRAPHY:
Common name: Genpachi (Genpachiro); go Shinmyo (from 1707), Baio (from 1707), Hogetsudo (from Genbun era, 1736-41), Tanchosai and Bunkaku (both from Enkyo era [?], 1744-8). Ukiyo-e painter, print artist and innovative print publisher, also author and illustrator early in his career. Studied haikai poetry under Tachiba (Shogetsudo) Fukaku (Sen'o, 1662-1753). Said to have been influenced by the work of Moronobu. and Kiyonobu., and his earliest dated work is a copy of Kiyonobu I's Illustrated Book of Courtesans of 1700. published by Kurihara Choemon in the eighth month of 170a. From 1703 to 1711 he designed illustrations for at least 22 ukiyo-zoshi novels and puppet theatre playbooks, notably three works also written by him that parodied Tale of Genji. In the Hoei and Shotoku eras (1704-16) Masanobu designed o-oban prints of beautiful women, horizontal oban sumizuri-e 'parody pictures' (mitat-e) and actor prints...

A truly wonderful and extremely rare limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino
This print of a pensive young girl dressed in a poncho and hat (likely in Mexico or Central/ South America) is hand pencil signed, sealed/ stamped in red, and numbered (appears to be 12/98 or 19/98) by Sekino. The image features a uniquely sparse composition and rich vibrant colors - very representative of the country this was likely initially conceived in. An exquisite and very rare/hard-to-find work. We have not seen this particular image ever come to the marketplace.

Chinese extraordinary natural stone "painting" with hardwood frame
Sea and Mountains IV
This Chinese extraordinary natural stone "painting" of a mountain range in white and gray colors is called a dream stone Shih-hua. They are cut from historic Dali marble found in the Cangshan mountains of western China. These mysterious mountains, unique in the world, are known for yielding incredible and fantastic natural landscaped works of art created over tens of millions of years from mineral inclusions that affected the process of ancient organic material which transformed into limestone and finally resulted in marble- a metamorphic hard stone.
This art form is centuries of years old since the Ming dynasty. Dream stones became favored art in the west particularly since the 19th century when French collectors named them Pierres de reve.
This thin marble stone "painting" is approximately 1/4" thick and is cut from a large slab of rough material revealing incredible patterns in soft white and gray colors. Its weight is surprisingly modest- easily hung with standard hardware.
On occasion, private collectors would invite an artisan to inscribe a poetic description onto their more important dream stones and in this case the artists' seal mark and calligraphy translation reads:
