His funny little people are always colorful, full of spirit, living with music and birds to bring them happiness. Lazar Obican artist, painter, sculpture and mosaic ceramic artisan was born in Cannes, France, to his Yugoslavian family. He finished his training, imbued with the spirit of his native country, the people, their legends, and their philosophy. It has been said that his work has a "timeless quality" and a naive, folk art, outsider art brut quality, child-like primitive style. Obican is identified with his style the world over, a style that is simple yet sophisticated; child-like yet masterfully adult; a style that tells a story with psychological, philosophical or sociological overtones. His funny little people are always colorful, full of spirit, living with music and birds to bring them happiness. Best known for his depictions of folklore and traditional costumes rendered in a playful, childlike style and for his happy Jewish wedding scenes. He often used bright colors and black outlines in his renderings of figures and animals, giving his work an illustration-like quality. Thematically, the artist’s work is similar to Marc Chagall and Jean Dubuffet for its dreamlike images and so-called naïve style of painting. Over the course of his career, the artist maintained a studio in Boca Raton, Florida and Dubrovnik, Croatia—part of former Yugoslavia— where he developed an interest in Eastern Europe’s Jewish culture. Many of his mature works depict Jewish traditions and ceremonies, including traditional Jewish weddings, the dancing of the Hora, and traditional music. There is a display of his works in his former Dubrovnik studio. His style is a unique conglomerate of tradition, history, legends, heroes, old customs and folklore. It is a self-standing style, recognizable, cheerful, whimsical and a happy creation. Naïve art is any form of visual art that is created by a person who lacks the formal education and training that a professional artist undergoes (in anatomy, art history, technique, perspective, ways of seeing). Unlike folk art, naïve art does not necessarily evince a distinct cultural context or tradition. Naïve art is recognized, and often imitated, for its childlike simplicity and frankness. Paintings of this kind typically have a flat rendering style with a rudimentary expression of perspective. One particularly influential painter of "naïve art" was Henri Rousseau (1844–1910), a French Post-Impressionist who was discovered by Pablo Picasso. Naïve art is often seen as outsider art that is by someone without formal (or little) training or degree. While this was true before the twentieth century, there are now academies for naïve art. Naïve art is now a fully recognized art genre, represented in art galleries worldwide. Museums devoted to naïve art now exist in Kecskemét, Hungary; Riga, Latvia; Jaen, Spain; Rio de Janeiro, Brasil; Vicq France and Paris. "Primitive art" is another term often applied to art by those without formal training, but is historically more often applied to work from certain cultures that have been judged socially or technologically "primitive" by Western academia, such as Native American, sub saharan African or Pacific Island art (see Tribal art). This is distinguished from the self-conscious, "primitive" inspired movement primitivism. Another term related to (but not completely synonymous with) naïve art is folk art. There also exist the terms "naïvism" and "primitivism" which are usually applied to professional painters working in the style of naïve art (like Paul Gauguin, Mikhail Larionov, Paul Klee). At all events, naive art can be regarded as having occupied an "official" position in the annals of twentieth-century art since - at the very latest - the publication of the Der Blaue Reiter, an almanac in 1912. Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc, who brought out the almanac, presented 6 reproductions of paintings by le Douanier' Rousseau (Henri Rousseau), comparing them with other pictorial examples. However, most experts agree that the year that naive art was "discovered" was 1885, when the painter Paul Signac became aware of the talents of Henri Rousseau and set about organizing exhibitions of his work in a number of prestigious galleries. The Earth Group (Grupa Zemlja) were Croatian artists, architects and intellectuals active in Zagreb from 1929 to 1935. The group included the painters Krsto Hegedušić, Edo Kovačević, Omer Mujadžić, Kamilo Ružička, Ivan Tabaković, and Oton Postružnik, the sculptors Antun Augustinčić, Frano Kršinić, and the architect Drago Ibler. A term applied to Yugoslav (Croatian) naive painters working in or around the village of Hlebine, near the Hungarian border, from about 1930. Some of the best known naive artists are Dragan Gaži, Ivan Generalić, Josip Generalić, Krsto Hegedušić, Mijo Kovačić, Ivan Lacković-Croata, Franjo Mraz, Ivan Večenaj and Mirko Virius. Carved wooden frame with antique gold-leaf finish Claude Weisbuch, 1927-2014 French painter, draftsman and engraver. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Nancy and upon graduation became a professor of engraving at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de of St. Etienne. His first solo exhibition was in 1957. In 1968 , he became a full member of the Society of French Painters-Engravers . In 1997 he was awarded the Legion of Honor His work is essentially devoted to engraving, by which he likes to translate, thanks to the line, the life, movement and character of his characters: Punchinels, harlequins, musicians or equestrian scenes. He practices various techniques ( lithography, drypoint etching etc.) that he puts to use in the illustration of bibliophile books. Claude Weisbuch is also a painter and draftsman. His favorite colors are ochres, browns and whites, with which he seeks to introduce the effects of light by compositions where the line and finesse of the drawing preserve the life found in his engravings. His precise and dynamic line delivers a moving and swirling work on themes he loves: theater, opera, equestrian, musicians, card players, Kabuki dancers and many portraits. His works have the appearance of unfinished sketches mixing few colors but a great vivacity of the line. He illustrated many limited edition signed fine art books. When one purchases from an auction house, one pays a buyer’s premium of anywhere from 23% to 28% over the “hammer price”.  So when one “wins” an auction for $20,000, the actual price paid is more like $25,000. By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price agreed to is the price paid by the buyer, no hidden fees. Secondly, when one purchases from an auction house, the buyer pays the packing and shipping fee, which are usually exorbitant.  By contrast, when purchasing from us, the price includes packing and shipping. Thirdly, when one purchases from an auction house, the sale is final.  If one receives the piece and is not 100% satisfied with it, there is nothing the buyer can do about it.  They are stuck with it.  By contrast, when purchasing from us, the buyer has sixty days to determine if they want to keep it.  If not, the buyer returns to piece to us for full refund, and we pay the shipping both ways. His first training in art was in 1969 when he started working with Silvia Gonzalez and later on in the Arcai Atelier in Paris. At 18, he held his first exhibition at the Museo de Arte Moderno of Mexico City and he went on to display his work at the International Biennale of the Bronx Museum in New York City. He grew up around the Mer Kup Gallery, run by his maternal grandmother, Merl de Kuper, where he presented his work in several group exhibitions and three solo shows (1979, 1981, and 1985). She was a champion of many important mexican modernist artists including artists like Pedro friedeberg, Feliciano Bejar, Mathias Goeritz, Diego Rivera, Sebastián, and José Luis Cuevas.Moises Zabludovsky exhibited at the National Center for the Arts in 2011 and at the Museo El Eco of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has exhibited paintings and sculptures at the Museum of Modern Art, the Jose Luis Cuevas Museum, Metropolitana in Mexico City. He has successful shows at prominent art galleries like the Miro Gallery in Monterrey, Palacio de Bellas Artes and Museo Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. He also had some international shows in Florida and Latin America. In 1982 he was awarded a degree in graphic design from Parsons University. He has received numerous awards and exhibited widely since the early 1990's. He is known both for his oil painting as well as for his ceramic and bronze bullfighting sculpture. In 1978, he received an honorable mention at the First Ibero-American Painting Biennial, where Carlos Merida and Rufino Tamayo were on the jury. He was part of the Emerging Decade generation whose members participated in the exhibitions bearing that name at the Museo Universitario del Chopo in 1984 and 1994, the latter titled An Emerging Decade, a Decade Later . He also participated in the Salón dès Aztecs, a renowned alternative space for Mexican art In the show Nuevas tendencias (New Trends) at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. That same year, he also exhibited at the International Biennial at the Bronx Museum in New York. He continued his studies at the Metropolitan University of Mexico City and simultaneously exhibited at various galleries and museums: the Mer-Kup Gallery and the Miró Gallery in Monterrey, Nuevo León; the Palacio de Bellas Artes; the Carrillo Gil Art Museum; and, outside the country, in Florida and at the Traveling Young Art Exhibition organized by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. as well as in art galleries in Mexico and the United States. His father was the famous professor and architect Abraham Zabludovsky known for his brutalist architecture masterpieces among them the iconic Museo Rufino Tamayo. His work is featured in two buildings designed by his father, Abraham Zabludovsky (1924-2003): the Byzantine mosaic mural 'The Applause' in the Guanajuato State Auditorium (1990) and the sculpture 'The Caravan' in the Poliforum, Auditorium and Convention Center in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas (1993). Michel-Henry was born in Langres in 1928 and has shown strong passion for drawing since his childhood. Michel-Henry is acknowledged as an important painter in French contemporary art. From 1952 his work has periodically been singled out for France's highest prizes and awards. The French Government, the City of Paris , the Museum of Valence , Bogota and the Museum of Alencon are among the distinguished institutions who have acquired his work for their permanent collections. Born in Langres in 1928 the aspiring artist attended the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He later studied with Narbonne , Georg, Chapelain-Midy and Legueult. In 1957 he became a member of the House of Descartes in Amsterdam and the following year was named member of the Casa Velazquez in Madrid , honors which are exceptional for a young painter.
