Veteran Village Voice photographer Fred W. McDarrah
Over a 50-year span, McDarrah documented the rise of the Beat Generation, the city’s postmodern art movement, its off-off-Broadway actors, troubadours, politicians, agitators and social protests.
Fred captured Jack Kerouac frolicking with women at a New Year’s bash in 1958, Andy Warhol adjusting a movie-camera lens in his silver-covered factory, and Bob Dylan offering a salute of recognition outside Sheridan Square near the Voice’s old office.
Not just a social chronicler, McDarrah was a great photo-journalist.
For years, McDarrah was the Voice's only photographer and, for decades, he ran the Voice’s photo department, where he helped train dozens of young photographers, including James Hamilton, Sylvia Plachy, Robin Holland and Marc Asnin. His mailbox was simply marked "McPhoto."
An exhibit of McDarrah’s photos of artists presented by the Steven Kasher Gallery in Chelsea was hailed by The New York Times as “a visual encyclopedia of the era’s cultural scene.”

Daniel Joseph Martinez (born 1957), is a Los Angeles based contemporary artist.
Daniel J. Martinez work can be found in public collections in the United States and abroad including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); the Orange County Museum of Art, Newport Beach, California; Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, Miami, Florida; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; and the Pace Foundation, San Antonio, Texas.
Daniel Martinez has received two National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Individual Artist Fellowships (1990–91, 1995–96) and an NEA Project Support Grant (1990); a Getty Center Foundation Individual Artist Fellowship (1997–98); a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Individual Artist Fellowship (2001–02); a California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship (2003–04); an ArtPace Foundation Fellowship (2005); a Peter Norton Family Foundation Project Support Grant (1991) and five Norton Foundation Artist Fellowships (1997–2001); the First Prize Grant Award of the Tijuana Biennial (2000); and a Flintridge Foundation Individual Artist Fellowship (2000–01). In 2007 Martinez was awarded the United States Artists Fellowship, and in 2008–09, he received the Rasmuson Foundation Alaska Artist in Residence Award in 2009, the Fellows of Contemporary Art Fellowship in 2009; and the 2010 FOCA Fellowship Artist Grant and exhibition. In 2014 Martinez was awarded the Alpert Award in the Arts from the Herb Alpert Foundation in collaboration with the California Institute of the Arts. In 2016, Martinez participated in the American Academy in Berlin Fellowship, Berlin, Germany.

Richard Ross is an American photographer. He is best known for his body of work Architecture of Authority, which was published as a monograph by Aperture Foundation in 2007. In 2007 Ross was the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship to finish Architecture of Authority.

Some of his solo exhibitions include ACME in Los Angeles (Architecture of Authority), Aperture Gallery in New York (Architecture of Authority), the National Building Museum in Washington D.C (Architecture of Authority), the Orange County Museum of Art (Gathering Light), the Santa Barbara Museum of Art (Gathering Light), and the Sonnenberg in Lucerne, Switzerland (Waiting for the End of the World).

Eva Korn was born in Czechoslovakia and a Holocaust surviver, Eva emigrated to the United States in 1953 from Switzerland, where she was studying photography. Photographs she had taken in 1951 of the then-new country of Israel were exhibited in Switzerland at the World Exhibit of Photography. In 1997 28 of her 1951 black & white photographs were exhibited, along with color photographs of Israel taken in 1996, as "Envision Israel: The Land, The Heart, The People." The show traveled for 12 months through the East Bay area of California. In the U.S. she continued her work as a photographer, married the penologist Richard Ross Korn (1923-2002)
Eva Korn spent her childhood in Bratislava, Slovakia; her education; family visits to Vienna, Austria; how this became more difficult after the Anschluss in 1938; the institution of anti-Jewish laws in 1939; working illegally as a seamstress; the deportations that began in 1942; her memories of her mother and brother's deportation to Ravensbruck and Sachsenhausen; the false identity papers she was able to obtain; her arrest in January 1945; her transport to Sered concentration camp and then Theresienstadt; the conditions in Theresienstadt; her return to Bratislava at the end of the war; her immigration to Switzerland in 1947; her immigration to the United States in 1951; her life in the United States; her marriage; and her experiences with reconciliation to heal the trauma of the war. a collection of photographs by Eva Korn, will be on display throughout the festival. Neal Slavin (born 1941) is an American photographer and television/film director. He is the author of Portugal (1971), When Two or More are Gathered Together (1976) and Britons (1986). He directed and produced the film Focus (2001).
Slavin was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture in New York, where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was awarded an exchange student scholarship at Lincoln College, Oxford in the UK.
