By Jessica Benjamin
Located in ALCOY/ALCOI, ES
Portrait 2 (Remembering)
Description: Oil on canvas, figurative, multi-color, gestural, modern, abstract
In this painting, Jessica Benjamin uses abstract brushstrokes and color to express the idea of remembering and question the purpose of portraiture. Through the abstraction and obscured face the little girl depicted becomes a story continually changing and never quite told.
Jessica Benjamin was born in Bloomington, IL and graduated from the New York Academy of Art with his MFA in 2014.
Her paintings have been featured on the cover and interiors of three albums by Wynton Marsalis...

Modern Abstract Portrait Oil on Canvas Figurative Multi-Color Gestural
By Jessica Benjamin
Located in ALCOY/ALCOI, ES
Poem 1
Description: Oil on canvas, figurative, multi-color, gestural, modern, abstract
In this painting we see a woman staring off in a dreamlike way, surrounded and entwined with marks of abstraction. The artist describes this piece as many of her others where, “the elements of the painting are arranged in a way that evokes a feeling, like the stanzas in a poem.” This painting was featured in a series of NFT’s (available soon) and an animation depicting love during WWI.

Half Men - Figures Cast in Shadow and Female Nude, Bold Colors, Heavy Paint
Located in Chicago, IL
Two figures, cast in shadows, stand in the foreground between a nude female figure in the background. Loose brushwork, thick with expressive, bold colors and strong contrast in shadows, add to the mystery of this gathering of characters. This artwork is mounted to a wood cradle and can hang directly on the wall. Please contact the gallery for framing options.

The Magic War - Surreal Disney Characters, Highly Detailed Original Painting
By Oliver Hazard Benson
Located in Chicago, IL
The painting is based on the sketch I made for a friend who in the early 90's wrote an account of his years as an occultist in Berkely, CA during the 1970's and 80's. He apprenticed himself to a charismatic magician. The latter believed himself to be both the returned Christ and the magical child (incarnated spell) of the infamous Alestair Crowley. This magician took on the form of Mickey Mouse in order to carry out his ministry, the ultimate goal of which was to be crowned at the Vatican. In time the apprentice became roused to individuate from his master and took the Satanic role in the form of Donald Duck (the avian predator of mice: Horus the Avenger...

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect.
I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting.
This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me.
The subjects of my paintings are usually based on the patterns and textures of nature and human interaction with nature. I have found subjects to paint in remote wilderness areas of the world, local parking lots, and my own backyard.
