Early 20th Century Persian Baluch Area Rug in Prayer Design in Ivory, Brown
Located in Barrington, IL
Early 20th Century Baluch Tribal Area Rug. Baluch rugs, woven by nomadic tribes across regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran, are celebrated for their distinctive tribal motifs, earthy palettes, and heartfelt craftsmanship, often incorporating elements reminiscent of neighboring weaving traditions.
This captivating rug features a striking prayer pattern, immediately setting it apart. What makes this particular Baluch rug exceptionally rare and desirable is its infrequently found ivory color background. This light, luminous field provides a beautiful canvas for the rug's intricate details and adds a unique brightness not typically seen in Baluch weavings.
The rug is beautifully framed by a border with unique colors and geometric designs throughout, rendered in harmonious shades of deep navy blue, warm brown, and creamy ivory. Vintage Persian Malayer in Allover Geometric Pattern in Navy Blue, Blue, Green
Located in Barrington, IL
Experience the enduring artistry of Persian weaving with this exceptional Vintage Persian Malayer area rug, dating to the early 1900s. This captivating piece features an all over geometric pattern set against a striking midnight blue background, providing a deep and rich foundation for its intricate design.
The rug is framed by a sophisticated French blue border, which beautifully complements the field. The larger format design elements within the field are imbued with a palette of vibrant accent colors, including French blue, lush green, bold red, delicate pink, and sunny yellow. The subtle variations within these hues, known as abrash, are a beautiful testament to the use of natural, organic vegetable dyes. Over time, these natural dyes gradually develop a wonderful depth and luminosity, enhancing the rug's character and authenticity.
The border itself is a work of art, featuring a charming meandering vine and flower design in harmonious shades of pink, red, and blue, all set within the rich French blue. This Malayer rug is truly a superb combination of sophisticated colors, intricate geometric and floral designs, and the very finest traditional Persian workmanship, making it an ideal centerpiece for refined interiors and a cherished acquisition for discerning collectors and interior design professionals.
