19th Century Persian Kurdish Tribal Bagface with Multicolor Geometrical Design

About the Item

19th century Persian Kurdish Tribal Bagface in Multicolor Geometrical Design Used as Nomadic Wall Art. It could have been either the face of a saddlebag or the side panels for a mafrash (large bag). It has kilim weaving and the soumak woven designs add to the decoration of the bag. The bag face and mafrash items started their lives as utilitarian items for the use by the village and tribal weavers and more than a century later they bring beauty and design as decorative items in our homes. Dimensions: 2’ 2” x 2’ 3” Date of Manufacture: 4th Quarter of the 1800s Place of Origin: NW Persia Material: Wool on a wool foundation with natural organic dyes dyes Condition: Wear consistent with age and use At The Persian Knot Gallery, we are also committed to sustainability and would like our clients to be delighted when they receive their purchases.
